The ATmosphere is the ecosystem built on the AT Protocol: a growing network of apps, servers, and services that work together without being owned by a single company.

Think of AT Protocol like HTTP. HTTP defines how the web works. The ATmosphere is everything built on top of it: the apps you use, the people you follow, and the services that connect it all.

Why the ATmosphere exists

Social networks don’t have to be walled gardens.

The ATmosphere exists so social apps can feel like one shared network, without a single company controlling everyone’s accounts, data, or identity.

What that gives you:

• Choice: use different apps without starting over
• Control: your account isn’t trapped in one platform
• Freedom: no lock-in, no gatekeeper

Your identity belongs to you, not an app.

How it works (in plain terms)

Instead of your account living inside a single app, it lives on a Personal Data Server (PDS).

Apps connect to your PDS. Not the other way around.

This PDS is loves.brussels, hosted on a Synology NAS in Brussels, Belgium. You can use it with apps in the ATmosphere—like Bluesky, recipe.exchange, deck.blue, Graysky, or SkyFeed.

If you ever want to leave, you take your account and your data with you. No drama.

The ATmosphere is made up of:

• User accounts (portable identities)
• PDS servers (where your data lives)
• Apps & clients (like Bluesky)
• Feed generators (custom timelines)
• Labelers (content labels & moderation signals)
• Relays and services that speak AT Protocol

All modular. All interoperable.

This site is the dashboard for loves.brussels.

Here you can:

• See who’s hosted on this server
• Create an account (when registration is open)
• Log in with an existing ATproto account to manage your data

Simple, transparent, no fluff.

The fine print (the honest version)

This server is run on a best-effort basis. We care about keeping it stable, but we won’t pretend it’s corporate-grade infrastructure.

That said:

• You’re never stuck here
• You can move your account and data to another PDS at any time

That’s the point.
